Shared on May 14, the video amassed over 47,500 views. Many users slammed the BBMP authorities. Reacting to the video, a user commented, “This is the tragic scenario in every tier 1 and tier 2 cities. There are NO public trash bins, so people will throw the garbage wherever they feel like. Unless civic bodies install, insist on using, and maintain the #publictrashbins this will continue.”

Another user commented, “This is near Outer Ring Road Mathikere. This place has been always like this , nothing new !” A third user wrote, “This is visible most part of the city, drains are not cleaned, water is overflowing on the road.”

Bengaluru saw moderate rain in parts of the city on May 12, bringing some relief from the heat. According to reports, waterlogging was reported in several areas including Electronic City, Hosur Main Road, Arekere, Jayanagar, Banashankari and Bannerghatta Road. Bengaluru traffic police warned commuters of slow-moving traffic in these parts due to waterlogging.
