A woman in Bengaluru has shared on social media that she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man while entering her house in the city on Tuesday night. The woman also shared on X a video that purportedly shows the accused trying to hide his face from the camera.

In a lengthy post, the victim shared that the incident occurred when she was about to open the gate of her house after her friend dropped her. “Last night in #NammaBengaluru a friend of mine dropped me near my house and as I was about to open the gate, this man came and groped me from behind and started running. I called my friend and asked him to stop him before he rode away,” she wrote.

The victim added that the accused accepted groping her, following which she reached out to the Bengaluru police, who nabbed him. “In this video, the man is accepting what he had done. My friend was there to catch hold of him and had it not been the case, we never know what all could have happened and he would have not been caught. We called the Bangalore Police on site and he was taken to jail,” she added.

She continued that she would not file an FIR as she injured him in self-defence and would be charged for it. “This man is unfortunately being left out again because I am not going to file an FIR. The laws in our Constitution are more focused on safeguarding such #animals and had I injured him significantly in self-defence, I would be charged much more. What a shame, right?” she wrote.

The woman mentioned that the man was not in an inebriated state and was waiting for a chance to sexually harass her. “It is unfortunate that he is being set free. He wasn’t drunk and he is not a child. He knew what he was doing and he was waiting for a chance to get me. My deepest condolences to his #family because this is the kind of napunsak who is ‘The Man’ of the family,” she said.

The Bengaluru police responded to the post and shared an emergency contact number. “Please share exact place of incident and your contact number via DM. In case of distress/ emergency situation, dial #Namma 112,” they wrote.

A similar incident took place in October last year wherein an elderly man was caught sexually harassing a woman inside Bengaluru’s Lulu Mall. The incident was caught on camera and purportedly showed the accused groping the woman.
