Milind Chandwani, an IIM graduate and founder of Camp Diaries Bengaluru, recently shared an amusing and unexpected late-night adventure that’s now making waves on social media. In a video post, he recounted a peculiar incident that unfolded during a 3 AM cab ride from Bengaluru airport—one where he ended up being the driver.
Describing the experience, he wrote, “Last night at 3 AM while returning from Bengaluru airport, I found myself in an unexpected role: my cab driver’s driver.” Apparently, the cab driver was so drowsy that even a pit stop for tea and cigarettes couldn’t shake off his fatigue. Concerned about safety, Chandwani offered to drive, and before he could process it, the driver handed over the keys without hesitation.
The video shows the exhausted driver reclining in the passenger seat, asleep, while Chandwani navigated Bengaluru roads using Google Maps. Reflecting on the situation, he said, “I felt a mix of emotions: glad that he trusted me, sad that he had to push himself so hard, and slightly amused at how quickly he decided I was qualified for the job.”
As the ride concluded, Chandwani gave the driver a Rs 100 tip and asked for a 5-star rating in return. “Fair trade, right?” he wrote in the post.
He ended his post with a heart-warming takeaway: “Life is full of unexpected detours. Be kind, be empathetic, and maybe brush up on your driving skills. Most important moral of the story? When you offer something, be ready for the other person to take your offer.”

The video has garnered more than 11 million views in just one day, prompting numerous users to share their reactions in the comments, with some recounting similar experiences they’ve had.
One user wrote, “I once had a cabbie tell me that he’d driven all night and hadn’t got any sleep. When I showed him my license and asked if he wanted to sleep while I drove this man literally opened up to me about his whole life. Most of such service workers are used to being ignored (often even not acknowledged as human beings). A shred of kindness goes a long way and it probably made the cabbie in the video’s day.”
Another user said, “Thought I was the only one who did this.” A third user commented, “Most heart warming thing i have seen all day today.”
