A coconut vendor in Bengaluru has gained attention with a clever ad. A simple poster the vendor put up listed the prices of coconut on popular quick-commerce apps like Zepto and Blinkit, and BigBasket, and contrasted that with the price he is offering. While the giants charge between Rs 70 and Rs 80 for a single coconut, the roadside vendor charges only Rs 55. The ad, showcasing the price difference, has gone viral and stirred conversations around price and convenience.
The ad was shared on X by @peakbengaluru with the caption, “Will quick commerce affect roadside coconut vendors?”

Many people praised the vendor’s ingenuity and appreciated the community connection in his approach.
One user wrote, “Great, no platform fee.” Another user commented, “I like the smiley below.”
Some users even defended the e-commerce site prices. An individual wrote, “I am willing to pay upto 70 for a coconut delivered to me as against me going to a vendor. Saving 10-20 rupees is not worth the hassle when I can have the coconut delivered to me.”
Another person commented, “Big basket daily subscription of tender coconut is 58-60/- Delivers at door step. No delivery charge. So no hassle of driving/walking through dusty roads, save on petrol. All in all 5/- extra is absolutely worth it imo.”
Quick commerce in India
Recently, another instance went viral when a man in the UAE shared his excitement online about having his PlayStation 5 delivered in just 23 minutes. But the story took a twist when an Indian user reposted it, adding a screenshot from Blinkit, a quick commerce platform, showing an even more impressive delivery time of just eight minutes.
