A lack of civic sense at public places continues to cause a stir on social media, with a deluge of videos showing Indians creating a ruckus abroad floating online. A recent incident captured a scene at Nairobi Airport, Kenya, showing two Indians talking loudly on their respective mobile phones in the premium lounge.

Shared by an Indian-origin author, Naresh Raghavan, the video shows a man and a woman enjoying the buffet at the premium lounge while holding their mobile phones between their shoulders and ears, and having a loud conversation.

“Waiting in the lounge in Nairobi airport and only two other Indians besides me. Both are talking loudly non stop on their cell phones since 15 minutes. A man and a woman. In a premium lounge! These are well to do people. What’s wrong with us as a nation. Why are we so ill mannered. Don’t we realize that we are disturbing others. And giving a bad name to our country? PS: not trying to shame anyone in particular, just saying we need to address this issue. But how?” the post read.

With nearly a million views, the video quickly gained traction, drawing a wave of reactions. “This is so annoying when Indian from India they talk so loudly on the phone sometimes they practically sound like they’re screaming or arguing. I’ve heard them walking down the street screeching on the phone. When will they learn some civic sense?” a user wrote. “what’s wrong with us is that “us” did not correct the behavior of our Fellow Indian. This can be done without offending or hurting someone ego,” another user commented.

“Yes, i myself felt ashamed due to loud mouth indian tourist. Passport should be handed at least with a guidance book on how to maintain dignity as indian representative,” a third user reacted.

Last week, a video of a Russian tourist capturing an elderly Indian man littering at the Wagah-Attari border sparked backlash.
