A ‘real-life’ fight broke out between the actors playing Lord Ram and Ravana as they beat each other up on the stage during Ramlila on Dussehra on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district.
The viral video, shared by journalist Sachin Gupta on X, shows ‘Lord Ram’ and ‘Lakshman’ shooting arrows at ‘Ravana’ as part of the play. The two men playing the part of Ram and Ravana then start throwing punches and pulling each other’s hair until people from the audience intervene and separate them.
“In Amroha, UP, Ram and Ravan clashed in real life during a Ramlila performance. Ravan pushed Ram. People reached the stage and intervened,” Gupta wrote in Hindi.

The video amassed over 11,000 views as many social media users thronged to the comment section. “People have lost patience. Everyone gets angry over small issues and hence people lose their temper and their families have to pay the price for their whole life,” a user wrote. “This looks like real Ramleela,” another user commented.
“One should stay within limits. It is a religious performance. What is this behaviour!” a third user reacted. “Ramleela or Mahabharata,” another user wrote.
According to livehindustan.com, a panchayat was held in the village to resolve the matter.
This year, Ramlilas have grabbed headlines amid several reports of actors passing away during performances.
A 60-year-old man playing the role of demon king Ravana’s brother Kumbhakarna during a Ramlila event in South Delhi’s Chirag Dilli area died after complaining of chest pain. Earlier, a man succumbed to a cardiac arrest while performing the role of Lord Ram during Ramlila in East Delhi’s Vishwakarma Nagar.
