Rinku Singh has expressed his frustration over a recent incident where a Pakistani fan questioned him and his colleague Suryakumar Yadav about their willingness to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. This came after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that India would not be travelling to Pakistan for the tournament due to the ongoing political tensions between the two countries.

The controversy gained momentum when a viral video showed a Pakistani fan asking Yadav about India’s stance on the matter. The Indian T20I captain appeared caught off guard by the question but handled it with poise, responding that such decisions are not in players’ control.

A longer version of the conversation soon surfaced, showing Rinku Singh also being approached by the fan. Despite Yadav’s response, the fan pressed both cricketers for their personal opinions on the matter, asking if they would want to travel to Pakistan. Singh, who noticed the fan filming, asked him to stop recording. “Video toh band kard aap (Please stop the video),” Singh can be heard saying.

The videos have gone viral ranking up lakhs of views with people commenting their views on it.

One user wrote, “Bad attitude from Pak fan.” Another user commented, “I love this sincerity from Rinku Singh.”

What’s the Champions Trophy controversy?

The Champions Trophy 2025 is facing significant controversy due to India’s refusal to tour Pakistan for the event. India has cited security concerns as the reason for the decision, while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) insists on hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan.

Amid this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed plans to take the Champions Trophy on a tour across the country, which sparked controversy due to the inclusion of regions in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the list of stops. This decision has drawn attention and raised concerns among many.

The ICC is looking at alternatives, such as a hybrid model in which India competes in the United Arab Emirates to prevent a tournament without India. There is also a discussion about postponing the event or changing the venue. The PCB, however, wants the competition to proceed without India. The final venue has not yet been announced by the ICC.
