One Sikh man’s tweet with #PorteOuverte goes viral

Rohan Singh Kalsi tweeted that any gurudwara in Paris would be happy to offer shelter to any Paris attack victim — a humanitarian message that was retweeted over 14,000 times.

Amid tales of heartbreak for the victims and anger towards the attackers, thousands tweeting with the hashtag #PrayForParis, there are those who have taken a proactive step to help those in need. One of the hashtags trending is “#PorteOuverte”, which means Open Door. This translates to the anyone using this hashtag offering shelter to the people stranded due to the attack.

One such tweet came from Sikh man, Rohan Singh Kalsi (@RohanSinghKalsi), who tweeted this:

The tweet was retweeted over 14,000 times, and got favourited around 12,000 times. Much of the Twitterati came forth with their support of Kalsi’s sentiment. Overwhelmed by the tweets of gratitude his tweet garnered, Kalsi later tweeted that there was no need. “Sikhs are here to serve humanity at all times.”
