Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently shared his unique perspective on time during a tech event, revealing why he chooses not to wear a watch. Huang explained that for him, the present moment holds the greatest significance. “Very few people know this, but I don’t wear a watch. The reason I don’t is that now is the most important time,” he said.
He emphasised that he’s not driven by ambition in the traditional sense. Instead of aiming for more, he focuses on doing better with what he already has. “I’m not striving for more—I wait for the world to come to me,” Huang explained.
Huang also shed light on Nvidia‘s approach to strategy, stating that the company doesn’t follow a grand, long-term plan. “We have no grand plan. Our definition of a long-term plan is simply: What are we doing today?” he remarked.
The video was shared by the Instagram account @entrepreneursonig, accompanied by a caption reflecting Huang’s philosophy: “Doing more is easy; doing less is hard.”

The video has gone viral, with people taking to the comments section with all sorts of reactions.
One user quipped, “It’ll be so funny if he asks his employ what the time is and they says now is the most important time.” Another user commented, “not all advice is good advice even from a good person.”
A third individual wrote, “You either understand what he says or you don’t.”
In 2023, Huang shared a story about a conversation with a Japanese gardener that deeply influenced his outlook. He described meeting a gardener who meticulously cared for a temple garden in Kyoto, preserving its lush, mossy beauty despite the challenges of the heat, the size of the garden, and his small tools. When Huang asked him how he managed it all, the gardener simply said, “I have plenty of time.”
Huang reflected on this, saying, “This is the best career advice I can give: Now is the most important time—just focus on the present.” He went on to explain, “I’m not someone who’s constantly chasing after things. I’m focused on now, and I enjoy my work.”
