A music producer’s decade-long dream turned to ashes when his brand-new Ferrari 458 Spider went up in flames just an hour after delivery. Honkon, 33, a music producer from Japan, had saved for 10 years to buy his dream car, a Ferrari 458 Spider worth Rs 2.5 crore, according to The Sun. He took delivery of the car on April 16, only for it to catch fire while he was driving on the Shuto Expressway in Tokyo.
According to the report, Honkon pulled over when he noticed the fire and got out of the car in time. The fire was brought down within 20 minutes. However, by then, almost the entire car had been destroyed. The only part left intact was the front bumper.
No crash was involved, and the cause of the fire remains unknown. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the matter. The report also said no injuries were caused in the incident.
Honkon expressed his heartbreak in a post on X. “My Ferrari burned to ashes an hour after delivery. I bet I’m the only one in all of Japan to experience this kind of trouble,” he wrote, as per the report.
Speaking to The Sun, he shared the terror he felt during the incident and said, “I was really scared that it would explode.”
The pictures of the incident quickly went viral across all social media platforms, amassing over 36 million views on X and an array of reactions.

“Ferrariiiiiiii…I’m so glad that Honkon is safe,” a user wrote in Japanese. “It’s common for a large engine to catch fire if you rev it for no reason, even if it’s a Ferrari. If you drive normally, this won’t happen,”another user commented.
“Welcome to Japan where even dreams come with smoke effects,” a third user wrote.
