French athlete proposes to boyfriend after record-breaking performance at Paris Olympics. Watch viral video

The 2024 Paris Olympics will not only be remembered for its controversies but also for the many heartwarming moments of athletes proposing to their significant others. French athlete Alice Finot, who broke the European record for the 3,000 m steeplechase event, surprised her boyfriend as she “popped the question” just after the race on Tuesday.

In the viral video, Finot walked towards the stands after finishing the race, pulled out the ring, went down on one knee and proposed to her boyfriend, while the crowd cheered for the couple. Towards the end of the video, she gives her boyfriend a tight hug.

Sharing the video, X handle @TheFigen wrote, “French athlete came in fourth in the 3000m steeplechase, a European record, and asked for her boyfriend’s hand.”

With over 21 million views, the video continues to win hearts. Reacting to it, a user wrote, “I bet he cried tears of joy and can’t wait to pick out his wedding dress.” Another user commented, “The best thing you could see on the internet today. Congratulations, new couple in town.”

“Sounds like a winning combination of love and success! What a memorable moment, congrats to the athlete!” a third user said.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Finot said, “I told myself that if I ran under nine minutes, knowing that nine is my lucky number and that we’ve been together for nine years, then I would propose.”

Earlier, Olympian Justin Best proposed to his long-time girlfriend Lainey Duncan in front of the Eiffel Tower. The American athlete had bought more than 2,700 yellow roses for his girlfriend. In the viral video, she was seen dressed in a white gown while Best was heard saying, “Lainey Olivia Duncan, you are the love of my life.”
