Wealthiest MLAs in Maharashtra State Assembly 2024: The Election Commission of India announced the results of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 this Saturday, revealing that the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance successfully retained power by winning 233 out of 288 assembly seats.

Marking an unprecedented electoral victory that the state has not experienced since 1980, the BJP achieved a historic sweep in Maharashtra Assembly polls by securing 132 seats on its own.

On the contrary, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), a coalition of Congress, NCP (SP), and Shiv Sena (UBT), has encountered a disastrous defeat, securing only 46 of the seats.

Following the BJP-led Mahayuti win, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) called it “unexpected and unimaginable,” whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, “Ek hain toh safe hai.” (United, we remain safe.)

This year, approximately 4136 candidates contested in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, as per the data reported by the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra.

Among them, 286 candidates won, and among the winners, about 277—representing 97%—are millionaires (crorepatis), as per the recent ADR study. (Source: ADR)

ADR further highlights that the average assets of the newly elected MLAs in 2024 are ₹43.42 crore, which is nearly double the average of ₹22.42 crore in 2019.

Furthermore, the number of crorepati MLAs has risen, with five legislators declaring assets exceeding ₹100 crore.

Parag Shah: The richest MLA in the Maharashtra State Assembly 2024

Parag Shah of the BJP, the wealthiest MLA in this election, retained the Ghatkopar East seat by 34,999 votes, prevailing over Rakhee Jadhav of the NCP-SP.

Shah, 55, is a real estate builder who also manages a construction firm, Man Infra Construction Limited, and his fortune has soared by 575% over the last five years, mostly owing to his real estate enterprises.

In 2019, he disclosed a net worth of ₹500 crore, and in 2024, Shah declared assets totalling ₹3,383 crore, which includes ₹3,315 crore movable and ₹67 crore immovable assets.
