WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to customise the appearance of chat windows. While the feature was previously spotted on the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, it looks like the Meta-owned instant messaging app is also planning to bring the feature to Android.

According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, the new feature is aimed at enhancing the user experience by allowing them to choose their favourite colour for chat bubbles.

In the screenshot, you can see that the beta version of WhatsApp has a new section called “Chat theme” under which you get two options named “Message colour” and “Wallpaper.” While the app already allows you to change the chat wallpaper, it looks like the ability to change chat bubble colour is still under development.

The report also suggests that the upcoming feature will have “at least 10 chat themes to enrich the user experience,” and that once a colour is chosen, it will be automatically set as the default chat theme and adjust the wallpaper and bubble colour.

Since the feature is currently under development, it is still unclear if and when the ability to customise conversation windows will make it to the stable version of the app.

WhatsApp recently rolled out a bunch of features like GIPHY integration, Customer Sticker Maker and is reportedly working on some much anticipated features like the ability to react to messages by double tapping, reshare status update like Instagram and more.
