Instagram has announced that it has fixed a bug that was reducing the reach of accounts posting multiple stories in a single day.

In a video posted on the platform, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said ” people were complaining about getting less reach with their stories if they posted a lot of stories in the same day and clarified that it was unintentional behaviour.

Upon taking a closer look, Mosseri said that they have now addressed the issue, and now posting multiple stories won’t limit your reach. While he did not share the reason why this was happening or specify whether the bug was triggered after users did something.

He went on to say that this does not mean your followers will go through all your stories, and that some users may get overwhelmed if there are too many stories. If you are someone who happens to use Instagram to keep up with friends, the bug fix may not mean much for you.

According to a post on Threads by a user who goes by the name ‘brndnslvra’, it looks like the bug has been bothering users for more than six months now. If true, this might mean that the Meta-owned social media platform may have unintentionally limited reach for millions of users and caused a huge dip in view counts for creators around the world.

To give you a quick recap, Instagram does not pay a fixed amount for views, but allows creators to earn via sponsorship deals, brand collaborations, promoting products and affiliate marketing.

In the last few months, Instagram developers have been adding several new features to the social media platform. A few weeks ago, Instagram rolled out its iPad app after a decade and was spotted testing a YouTube-like picture-in-picture mode for Reels, allowing users to watch short-form video content in a floating window.
