Meta, the Mark Zuckerberg-led company that owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp is working to add a new option that lets users share their WhatsApp Status as Stories on its other social media platforms and Meta Quest.
The new feature will make use of Meta’s Accounts Center, which it introduced back in 2020 to offer connected experiences across its platforms. To give you a quick recap, Account Center currently allows users to share their Instagram Stories on Facebook and can also connect with Threads, Meta’s answer to X (previously Twitter).
However, the toggle that allows users to share their WhatsApp Status as Stories on Facebook and Instagram is turned off by default and users will have to manually enable it from the app settings. It will also appear when performing certain actions like sharing WhatsApp Status on Facebook and Instagram.
The company said the new functionality will make it easier for users to reshare updates from their WhatsApp to Facebook and Instagram Stories, eliminating the need to post multiple times. Apart from sharing options, the Accounts Center will also allow you to log in to WhatsApp with a single sign-on.
Meta said the new feature will be rolling out to everyone “over the next few months”, so it may take a long time for the option to appear on your device. As it turns out, the company is also working on another feature that allows users to manage their avatars, Meta AI stickers and Imagine Me creations from a single place.
