Indian #MeToo tweet spike surpasses US monthly data
More than 9,78,000 #metoo tweets were posted from India this month, while the highest #metoo activity in the US over the last year was in September 2018, with a little over 9,53,000 tweets, according to data obtained by The Indian Express from Twitter.

Twitter saw more #metoo tweets from India this month than any single month in the US over the past year.

A large chunk of global #metoo tweets are, however, from the US. More than 40 per cent of global tweets over the past year came from the US, and only 7 per cent from India.
In the past year, the total number of #metoo tweets from India was 1.3 million, from the US 7.4 million and globally around 17.2 million.
There were 1.2 million tweets from India between September 20 and October 19.
