Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians Playing 11, IPL 2024: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians will take on one-time champion Gujarat Titans in their opening clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. As expected despite some of the star names in the world games on either side Hardik Pandya will take centre stage in the clash.

Both teams going in with two new skippers into the tournament will be hoping to start the campaign on a winning note which is especially true for Pandya under the circumstances in which he took reigns. Shubman Gill might not have as much pressure as Hardik but he too has to deal with expectations of matching the same success delivered by his former captain Pandya who was at the franchise in the last couple of seasons.
Hardik Pandya might be a big loss for GT which they have tried and replaced with Azmatullah Omarzai. However, Mohammed Shami who was their spearhead with the ball last year withdrew from the tournament late and the only like-for-like replacement Titans have up their sleeves is Umesh Yadav. He might not be at the level of Shami but is lethal with the new ball when it swinging around.
The talismanic middle-order bat will be difficult to replace for Mumbai in the first game. He has been one of the major reasons behind Mumbai being able to outscore the opposition in last season. Vishnu Vinod is the likely replacement MI has in thir squad who can hit the ball long way on his day.
While there are mixed emotions about making Hardik Pandya as captain his role as player will be as important to the side as much as captaincy will be. The fascinationg thing will be his batting position in the order which he will take. When he was last at the franchise he used to come in late-middle order and go after the bowling but in Gujarat he batted in the middle to construct an innings and had lot of success.
