India will take on England in the first of the three-match ODI series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Thursday. The hosts have already won the five-match T20I series 4-1.

This will be the opportunity for both sides to test their ODI prowess going into the Champions Trophy showpiece later in the month. While England is largely unchanged in their squad with regards to what they have picked for T20Is, India has a lot of new faces in the team. With the experienced Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and a few others coming back into the side.

Here’s a look at all the details

India predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakarvarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami

Player to watch out for: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been going through a lean patch in the red-ball format. However, ODI is the format where he has been able to deliver the goods with his modern attacking approach. While it has come to criticism in Test matches and has not given results in ODIs it has been the method that has transformed Rohit into his 2.0 version.

England predicted XI: Ben Duckett, Phil Salt (WK), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (C), Liam Livingstone, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood

Player to watch out for: England batters have struggled to deal with the Indian spinners during the T20I series. They have had a hard time picking up the variations however, the introduction of Root in the middle order might give some relief as he is among the best players of spin in modern cricket.

India vs England Pitch Report

The pitch in Nagpur historically has been helpful to the spinners and as we move into the summer season in India wickets tend to get drier hence it might not be one of those high-scoring games. India also in recent times has shown vulnerabilities against high-quality spin in ODI cricket however, England has one spinner in their squad Adil Rashid which will favour India.

India vs England Weather Report

The day temperature in Nagpur on Thursday is expected to be 31 degrees centigrade according to Accuweather app and it falls down to 17 degrees centigrade in the evening. Due to the drop in the temperature as the evening goes dew might play a role hence team winning the toss might opt to bowl first to negate the spin threat. However, if there wouldn’t be any dew the wicket might get slower and slower.
