ICC World Test Championship 2025-2027 Updated Standings: Captain Shubman Gill said that India played “the perfect game” as they beat the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs inside three days in the first Test. It was return to business as usual for India, with this match being their first at home since they suffered a shocking 3-0 whitewash at the hands of New Zealand late last year.

That result, followed by their 3-1 defeat in Australia after that led to them missing out on the World Test Championship final for the first time. They have made a very good start to the current cycle though and the thumping win against the West Indies has only further helped their cause.

How the WTC table looks after India’s victory

The standings remain unchanged after the first Test in Ahmedabad but third-placed India’s points percentage (PCT) has gone up to 55.56, thus getting them closer to second-placed Sri Lanka’s 66.67. The PCT is the percentage of number points won out of the number of points that a team has contested for.

Australia (100.00 PCT) remain top of the table, having won all three Tests they have played thus far. Sri Lanka are second having won one of the two Tests they played while India have now won three of the six Tests they have played in this cycle. England (43.33) are fourth with two wins, two draws and a loss in five Tests while Bangladesh (16.67) are fifth with one draw and one loss in two Tests. The West Indies (0) are sixth, having lost all four Tests they have played thus far in this cycle. New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are yet to play start their new WTC cycles.

The teams that finish in the top two of the standings at the end of the two-year cycle will go through to the final which is scheduled to be hosted at Lord’s.
