Fresh from their IPL 2023 heroics, Ravindra Jadeja and Shubman Gill join India’s WTC Final squad

Ajinkya Rahane and Suryakumar Yadav were also among the latest batch of Indian players to arrive in England before the WTC Final.

Ravindra Jadeja was the star of Chennai Super Kings’ 2023 Indian Premier League win. Shubman Gill was the player of the tournament and a pivotal reason behind Gujarat Titans making it to their second consecutive IPL final.

The star Indian duo on Thursday added firepower to the Indian test contingent in England for the World Test Championship Final starting June 7.

Alongside Jadeja and Gill, CSK’s Ajinkya Rahane and Mumbai IndiansSuryakumar Yadav also arrived at the team’s training base at the Arundel Castle Cricket Club in West Sussex.

Earlier on Thursday, Adidas India also unveiled the new India kits across formats, including the blue striped Test cricket threads.

On Wednesday, India captain Rohit Sharma had joined the rest of the squad present whereas on Monday, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj and Cheteshwar Pujara had participated in their first practice session.

Meanwhile, Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included in the India squad for the WTC final as a stand-by player after Ruturaj Gaikwad informed the cricket board that he will be getting married on June 3-4.

The Indian Express understands that the team management has asked Jaiswal to start practising with the red ball and as he already holds a UK visa, he will be flying to London in a few days.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had initially added Gaikwad as a stand-by opener for the WTC Final, where India will face Australia at The Oval on June 7. Gaikwad informed the BCCI that he could join the team after June 5, but coach Rahul Dravid sought a replacement.
