IPL 2025, DC vs GT highlights: Gujarat Titans beat Delhi Capitals by 10-wickets

Sai Sudharsan has hit, his 90s here. Titans needed one player to match Rahul's innings, but here we have both Sudharsan and Gill matching Rahul's innings. It might be Sudharsan who might end up with more runs but Gill has complemented him quite well. And since strategic time out, this has been both batters pummeling the bowling. This is a very deflating loss to the Capitals. They have not played well in a long time and seem like they are picking a up lot of bad habits as they are going along in the tournament and they need to find ways to win does the Capitals.

If Titans manage to win this game, they will be qualified for the playoffs. Given how the Capitals batted in the first innings, it did seem like a difficult surface to bat on; however, when the Titans have batted in the second innings seems like things have changed quite a bit. The spinners, though it is a slow surface, have not been able to get much out of the surface. We have reached the strategic time out. Capitals need a miracle here to make something out of this game. Their body languages have clearly dropped after starting the tournament well they are in quite a bit of pickle.

Given how things are going in the middle, it might not be a bad ploy for the Capitals to bring in someone like Tristan Stubbs into the attack for an over. No matter what has been thrown at them, both Gill and Sudharsan have been able to deal with it quite efficiently As we update, Gill smashes one down the ground to get a half-century. This is getting bad to ugly for Capitals we might even have a situation here where Titans might complete this chase with 2-3 overs to spare given how things are going at the moment. Axar needs to come up with something here immediately. 

Axar Patel is scratching his head. He is trying a few things, but nothing is working at the moment. Vipraj Nigam has come into the attack he bowled one over after the powerplay and now he has returned back to the attack. While it is a bit slow, it is not turning as it did in the first innings. Titans still have a long batting lineup to come, and if Capitals need to win this game, they need to pick 2-3 wickets in quick succession. As we update,, A six from Shubman Gill has brought up a 100-run partnership. It might be time Axar brings Mustafizur into attack for an over.

The pressure has been building but still there are no wickets to show for the Capitals. As we update, Sai Sudharsan swept one, and the ball went to the boundary, which brought up Sudharsan's half century. This is getting out of the grasp of the Capitals. They have had a good total on the board, but the bowling to start with was poor, and once these two have got themselves in, they don't need second invitation to take on the bowling. It just seems like the Capitals are missing the fierce striking ability of Mitchell Starc in this game. Someone has to step up here.

The Capitals are behind in this game at this point in time. It has been the GT top order yet again, which is doing the damage. The seamers, especially Natrajan, have been quite disappointing in the powerplay. The onus is now on Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav not only to maintain the pressure but also to pick up a few wickets. As we update,Capitals have exhausted their review. It was Sudharsan who tried to sweep one and missed it. However, Delhi keeper Porel and Sudharsan thought there was some edge; however, on review, there was no spike on ultraedge.

This is a cracking opening partnership. It is one thing teams have to do against GT, which is to pick that first wicket early, and that is what the teams have found hard to do. While there have been instances where the teams have tested this duo with good spells today, it has been all too easy for these two. There has been some ordinary bowling from the Capitals,, which let the Titans of the hook in this chase. They have got the start which they needed The Titans now have the onus on the Capitals to pull back things. They have to find ways of picking wickets here in the first few overs.

That was a poor over from Natrajan. He has sprayed the ball all over, and Sai Sudharsan feasted upon it. This is quite the contrast to how Titans bowled in the first innings. To be fair to Natrajan, he has been out of the action for a bit, and the rustiness did show in that previous over. Two overs into this contest, it seems like the Capitals are already missing the cutting edge of Starc in this game. It will be interesting to see what role Mustafizur will play in this attack. He has been part of this franchise before, and the surface today might just help him a bit.

It's tough sitting and watching the boys, especially in the pressure situation we got into ourselves, we started well, got into a wobble, but the break must've done good for us. KL wanted to bat at the top of the order and he's so good to watch when in full flow. When you can see players of that quality, watch them practice and then watch them put on a show during the match is do good to see, it's just half the job done though, the top-3 have done a superb job (for Gujarat Titans), but we've Mustafizur who joined us this morning, and Nattu as well back from injury. We spoke about getting a solid start, we were poor in that over the last few overs and we then solidified during the middle overs before exploding towards the end, 200 I think is a good target.

Well, it was an anticlimax in the end as KL Rahul gave himself room to hit one through the off-side however, Siraj bowled one wide outside the off-stump, and Rahul ended up leaving it. It is a brilliant score in the end from the Capitals. Titans need to bat out of their skins and hope dew sets in. If there is no dew one of the top three from the Titans batters have to match the innings of KL Rahul or Titans might find it very hard to get these runs. Also, another interesting narrative in this game will be how well Capitals bowl in the absence of Starc and how Axar will use his bowlers. Do stay with us we will be right back after a small break.

KL Rahul with a boundary on the leg side has got to his century here. What a fabulous innings this has been from him. It just might be the innings on this wicket that will be good enough for the Capitals to take them over the line. Titans need to bat very well in the second innings, and they will need one of their top three to match this.

Shubman Gill has been quite methodical in the way he has used his bowlers. He has given the new ball to the seamers and made sure one of the front two bowl three overs in the powerplay and has waited till the 8th over, 9th over mark to introduce his spinners. Sai Kishore, especially,y has come quite late into the attack and despite that has managed to bowl out his quota of overs. While there have been captains who like to close out the overs of spinners by 15th 16th overs Gill seems to be one of those who is brave enough to throw the ball to the tweakers even in the final overs.

The Capitals batters are climbing onto Sai Kishore here. Before this game, Kishore had been quite efficient for the Capitals, but today it seems like it is a strategy to attack the left-arm spinner. While he does have a lot of variations, this is still pretty small ground and Kishore like Ravindra Jadeja, tends to bowl quicker. It might be one of those surfaces it is better to keep the pace down and give it a bit of air. We might see more of it from Kuldeep Yadav in the second innings, how will give the ball a proper rip and let it turn. This has been a superb batting performance from Capitals so far. And as we update Prasidh picks Axar Patel.

Of the 126 runs the Capitals scored, 84 have come from the bat of KL Rahul. While he has been quite methodical about his innings, someone needs to play a cameo from the other end. It has not been easy for the new batters, but Axar needs to have a go at the GT spinners here. The match-up against left-arm spin and leg-spin does work in his favour, but the sluggishness of the surface has not let him get underneath the bowling. Interesting passage in this game because a couple of wickets here, Capitals might end up with quite a small total here.

That was a great partnership and was taking the game away from the Titans; however, Sai Kishore, like many times before in the tournament, has created the breakthrough. It was not the ideal delivery, however, he did pick up the wicket. It was a short wide one which Porel tried to cut and edged it to the keeper. That is the second wicket for the Titans. Axar Patel has walked into the middle and these are the kind of situations Axar has thrived in this season. A cameo from him here in the middle will do the Capitals a world of good.

KL Rahul has got to his half-century here in the middle. It is a superb innings from the veteran. One of the things with Rahul as he gained experience, he has become a master of assessing the situations and understanding the par score of the surface. While this wicket is not going to get any better to bat, Rahul being in the middle is very important for the Capitals to put on a good score. He needs to stitch partnerships and lay the platform for the finishers to close it out. As of now, Porel too who has had a bit of a tough time is going after the bowling.

Abhishek Porel, similar to the other batters, seems to be struggling to get adjusted to the pace of this wicket. It has not been easy for the batters to start on this wicket, which makes it even more important that the batters who have got themselves in keep batting and maintain that right balance between caution and aggression. Capitals need to find a way to get 180 here in the first innings, as the dew sets and evening progresses,, batting will get easier and easier in the second innings. We have seen during the game between Capitals and Bengaluru earlier this season wicket played in a similar way.

That was a top-notch ball striking from KL Rahul in the final over against Rabada. At least on paper, this is the kind of surface with an indifferent bounce that should suit both Prasidh Krishna and Rabada, but KL Rahul has got hold of latter. It seems like Rahul has adjusted to the pace and bounce of the wicket, which makes it imperative that he bats as long and deep as possible if the Capitals have to put on a good score. It might have started a bit dry, but once the dew sets in and as the evening goes the ball will start to skid on nicely onto the bat.

The Delhi batters are yet to get used to the low bounce and sluggish nature of this wicket. It is not as bad as it seems, but it is playing a tad bit slowly. Runs are still there to be had. Faf got beaten by the pace. He tried to hit one over mid-on and got caught. They need to inject some momentum in this powerplay, do the Capitals, as of now, it has been Titans all over them. It has been hard length which Titans are operate with, and the Capitals are unable to get it away. Titans are continuing from where they have left off before the break as far as their bowling goes.

The ball is skidding on nicely here. One of the features of the wicket here in Delhi, because of the black soil, it tends to keep a tad bit low. There was a delivery which Siraj hit on the hard length however, the ball did not bounce much and almost went over the stumps. KL Rahul has tried to pull that delivery and missed it because of the low bounce. It is quite an adjustment for both the batters and bowlers on this tricky wicket to find the proper length which can trouble the batters Having said that Titans seem to have adapted well than Delhi at least at this point in time. Mohammed Siraj has taken the new ball for the Titans, and there has not been much swing and seam. The ball has gone in straight lines, and KL Rahul has been able to play it well. Delhi, so far this season, has been quite conducive for batting, especially in the powerplay It is only the older ball which has caused a bit of trouble once the ball got softer. Since it is the first game after a while it will be interesting to see how this wicket will play. We just might see a pretty high-scoring game today. Arshad Khan has taken the new ball from the other end.

To be fair, we stayed together as a unit which has given us plenty of time to rest, refresh and top up our skill set. Opportunities for me in the IPL or the Indian team has come after a lot of grind, so I came 100% prepared and I don't want to leave anything on the table. With this impact player rule, the captain has a lot of options, sometimes favourable match-ups are available and that gives a lesser number of overs for a bowler, but I do keep myself prepared, work on my skills and be prepared. Sticking to our potential and process, if we play to our best, any team should be easy for us. There's not a lot of bounce on this pitch, sticking to the right length is the key.

The dimensions of this ground - 58m and 66m square boundaries, the straight boundary is 71m. This is a used pitch and should be good for the spinners. Very hot, not a lot of wind, looks dry with a smattering of grass. It could grip and turn for the spinners, The average score batting first in the last 10 innings is 216, so there should be plenty of runs, but it could turn a bit for the spinners

“Definitely it is one of the vital shots that I have used in white ball or T20 cricket for sure. What it brings to your game is even if a bowler is delivering his best ball, you are able to score off it to a less protected pocket in the field. So when you have that sort of an option for a bowler’s go-to delivery, you are invariably putting him under pressure. He is pushed into doing something different. That was the reason behind it (adding to his shotbook).”

“The idea to be a bit more positive started at the TNPL. Even before last season’s IPL was done, I remember asking myself how we should play next year and what should I do to take my batting forward. I definitely had ideas to add more elements to my batting. I wanted to see what it brings to my game. The mindset had to change. When the TNPL happened, it didn’t start well, but by the end I was able to see the difference. “Last year, in certain innings, I was a bit slow,” Sai Sudharsan tells The Indian Express. “The pitches that we played also were a bit different to the others. And even the team situation was such that there were no great starts. We kept losing wickets and I wasn’t able to give good starts. I was slow to get off the block.

“I realised that I’d have to push myself more; be a bit more explosive. So I went home and worked on the mindset of it. As you said, I didn’t change anything with my batting, but just brought more clarity. I wanted to bring the explosive element very early in the innings. If I could do it later, I could definitely do it at the beginning as well from ball one. From there on, I practiced with these thoughts in mind,” the left-hander says.
