Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson have been considered the Fab Four in cricket over the last decade, a term coined by former New Zealand cricketer Martin Crowe back in 2014 to denote these players’ dominance in the sport.

With Kohli retired from Tests and T20Is, Steve Smith hanging up his boots from ODIs, Joe Root has left T20Is and Kane Williamson is the only one currently playing all three formats, former India cricketer Akash Chopra gave his thoughts on who he thinks will be the next generation’s Fab 4.

“The Fab 4, I feel are almost here. Shubman Gill is a part of that Fab 4 and will remain in the future. Same is true for Yashasvi Jaiswal. He is mainly concentrating on one format now but he’ll play all three formats and will be pretty good there as well. Then I am thinking of Harry Brook who will rule the roost in all three formats with his style of play. The 4th player will be Rachin Ravindra. He has both the technique and the temperament,” Chopra said in a video on his X account.

In numbers

At the time of writing, Gill has played 38 Tests and scored 2697 runs with 9 centuries. He has also played in 55 ODIs and scored 2775 runs with 8 hundreds and he has played 28 T20Is, scoring 705 runs with 1 century.

Jaiswal, meanwhile, has played 25 Tests, scoring 2245 runs with the help of 6 hundreds. He has also played 23 T20Is and scored 723 runs with one hundred. But he has just played a single ODI where he has scored 15 runs.

Current England vice-captain Brook has played 30 Tests and scored 2820 runs, including 10 centuries while he has also played 32 ODIs and scored 995 runs with the help of 1 century. In T20Is, he has played 49 matches and scored 914 runs.

Rachin, meanwhile, has taken part in 17 Tests and scored 1224 runs with the help of 3 hundreds. He has also played 33 ODIs and scored 1233 runs with 5 hundreds while he also played 30 T20Is and scored 452 runs.
