Nitish-Lalu tie-up like ‘mixing oil with water’, can only imagine consequences if BJP not voted to power: Amit Shah

Shah said Bihar had given 31 out of its 40 seats to the NDA in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. “It is now time to make it 40 out of 40,” he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s “ambition” to become prime minister would never be fulfilled, and that an alliance that includes Lalu Prasad and Nitish would be like “mixing oil with water”.

Speaking at a public meeting at Jhanjharpur in Bihar’s Madhubani district as part of his tour of Lok Sabha constituencies ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Shah also said members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) were “humiliating Sanatan Dharma”. He also mentioned the Nitish Kumar government’s decision to remove Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami from the list of holidays. The decision was later withdrawn.

“If (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi ji is not voted back to power in the 2024 election, and BJP does not come to power in Bihar in the 2025 Assembly election, one can only imagine the consequences,” Shah said.

He also praised the success of Chandrayaan-3 mission and the G-20 summit held in New Delhi. “PM Modi has given India great respectability at the world stage with the successful hosting of the summit. The PM has also showcased Nalanda University and Madhubani paintings at the G-20 platform… People of other Asian countries are now very eager to do business with India,” said Shah.

Shah said Bihar had given 31 out of its 40 seats to the NDA in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. “It is now time to make it 40 out of 40,” he said.

Continuing to target the Nitish-Lalu alliance, Shah said, “It is a selfish alliance. The changing of name of the alliance is serving little purpose. Nitish Kumar’s ambition to become PM will fall flat again. In any case, the combination of Lalu and Nitish is like mixing oil with water, which does not work. Instead, it will end up defiling the water.”

He added that Nitish was responsible for the delay in starting Darbhanga AIIMS. “He first gave 81 acres of land at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital premises and then took it away to water-filled, low-lying land,” Shah said.

He praised the Modi government for the abrogation of Article 370 and also mentioned the construction of the Ram temple.

BJP state president Samrat Choudhary, MP Rakesh Sinha, and former MP RCP Singh were also present.

Union minister and BJP’s Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh was also at the public meeting. He appealed to people to come forward to “safeguard Sanatan Dharma”. Former MP RCP Singh also spoke at the event, where he criticised his former party boss Nitish. “On the one hand, there is a leader like PM Modi who talks of India’s glory in terms of thousand years. On the other hand, there is Nitish Kumar, who says the world will come to an end in another 100 years,” he said.
