Pakistani travellers to UAE now require police verification amid growing beggars concern

This comes as the UAE showed discontent with an increased number of Pakistani’s getting involved in begging after reaching UAE, and it has also alarmed the authorities to screen the passengers vigilantly.

In a new development for Pakistani travellers, a Senate panel of Pakistan was informed on Monday that people going to the United Arab Emirates would need to be vetted and verified by the police.

This comes as the UAE showed discontent with an increased number of Pakistani’s getting involved in begging after reaching UAE, and it has also alarmed the authorities to screen the passengers vigilantly.

The UAE administration has also actively started to decline the number of visas being issued to the Pakistani nationals after ascertaining if they have enough money in order to prove them as “genuine visitors”, the travel agents said as reported by Dawn.

Pakistan’s Bureau of Emigration of Overseas Employment Director General Muhammad Tayyab said “No case of travelling to the UAE will now be allowed without police verification,” quoted Dawn.

In a Facebook post, the Senate of Pakistan posted a picture of the meeting regarding the UAE visa issue and wrote in the caption, “Committee Chairman Senator Zeeshan Khanzada emphasized the need for more action, as people are questioning when these issues will be resolved.”

Senator Zeeshan further noted that “agents claim to meet all requirements when applying for visas, yet visas are still not being issued.”

However, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development’s Secretary Arshad Mahmood clarified that the restrictions on the UAE visa doesn’t mean a complete denial of the same from the Arab country.

He added that Dubai had no restrictions and each country had their respective objectives regarding the issue.

Secretary Mahmood further said that there was no restriction on the issue of visas to skilled laborers, however, he agreed that there had been a decline in the demand for unskilled labour.
