‘Recreating investment cycle BJP’s top priority’

Calling for the need for decisive leadership,Jaitley criticised the leadership at the Centre.

Bringing the investment cycle back and giving a decisive leadership will be the first priority of BJP if voted to power in the upcoming general elections in 2014,said Arun Jaitley, leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha,in New Delhi on Friday.

Priority will be to recreate the investment cycle, said Jaitley as he said that the current environment has brought down the GDP growth rate and the economic activity.

Speaking at the Ficci Ladies Organisation (FLO) annual inter-state meet,Jaitley blamed a weak leadership at the Centre for the current situation where the investment cycle has broken down,GDP growth rate has gone below 5 per cent and has led to an environment of despondency.

Calling for the need for decisive leadership,Jaitley criticised the leadership at the Centre.

The PM leads the Central government,he must be decisive, must have the authority to overrule people, must have the capacity to take an unpopular decision and should have the ability to communicate and take people into confidence. Ultimately Prime Ministers are judged not by the number of years they remain in office but by the direction they give to the country and I think this has hurt us, said Jaitley.

Shekhar Gupta,editor-in-chief,The Indian Express, who was the chief guest, presented awards to the 30 achievers of Ficci FLO 2013-14.
