The Defence Estates Office is likely to take possession of a plot identified by President Pratibha Patil for her post-retirement on Wednesday after Pune civil court rejected 78-year-old Pesi Ankelsarias plea seeking stay on the possession. The 2.10 acre plot is near Mumbai-Pune highway in Khadki.
Joint civil judge A N Mare (senior division) rejected Anklesarias application and when Anklesaria tendered another application seeking time to appeal,it was rejected too. The court order observed that The plaintiff (Anklesaria) has not prima facie established that he is in possession of the suit property.
T Arockinathan,Defence Estate Officer,Pune,who was present in the court,said,The government is supposed to provide accommodation to President as per the President (Emoluments and Pension) Act,1951. We have initiated the procedure to acquire the bungalow as per defence ministry directions.
