Accusing the Indian envoy here of violating diplomatic etiquette with his objectionable remarks on the Tipaimukh Dam issue,Bangladeshs Opposition BNP on Tuesday demanded his immediate withdrawal.
We want his (Pinak Ranjan Chakravartys) immediate withdrawal as the envoy has been making comments for long,violating diplomatic etiquette, the main oppositions parliamentary chief whip,Joynal Abedin Farroque,said.
Pinak has been passing objectionable comments ignoring courtesy and rules,which is similar to interference in the countrys internal matters, Farroque said.
The BNP demand comes two days after India criticised its propaganda over the dam on Barak river in Manipur,with Chakravarty saying Dhaka was consulted on the construction of the structure meant for generating hydro-electricity.
Earlier on Monday,BNP chief Khaleda Zia had sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to stop construction of the dam in upstream northeastern Manipur,claiming that it might cause ecological catastrophe in the region,BNP spokesman Rizvi Ahmed told newsmen.
Chakravarty,at a function here two days ago,had said,The so-called (Bangladeshi) water experts say India has violated international law,there is no binding international law on transnational rivers.
