August 19: In a major haul, 27 kgs of brown sugar, worth Rs 27 crore in the international market, were seized by police from a resident of Amritsar, at Dongri in south Mumbai this evening.
The joint police commissioner (law and order) Charan Singh Azad told Express Newsline that the police intercepted the car in which Satpal Singh Niranjan Singh was travelling in the congested south Mumbai locality of Dongri. He was carrying 27 kgs of brown sugar with him.
While Satpal Singh was nabbed, the driver of the car in which he was travelling managed to flee.
