Close on the heels of the leakage of CAT papers, a selection test for Group ‘D’ employees for the Railways was cancelled today after the question paper was found leaked.

The leaked question paper was accessed by the CBI through an informer, in a handwritten form, and it tallied with the original. The informer had contacted the agency yesterday on the leakage of papers to fill 2,000 group ‘D’ posts by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). Following the information forwarded by the agency, RRB, Patna, cancelled the exam. Two separate inquiries by the Railway Vigilance and the CBI have begun. Chairman of RRB, Patna, Pramod Kumar, said fresh dates would be announced later. Around 2.76 lakh candidates were to appear for the exam.

Hundreds of candidates who learnt about the cancellation only at the examination centres went on a rampage in Patna. At Kargil Chowk and Income Tax Chowk, the candidates blocked traffic and raised slogans against Railway Minister Nitish Kumar. They also blocked rail traffic and pelted stones at rail properties. Besides Patna, the exams were to be held at Ara, Hajipur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gaya and Mughalsarai.
