After considering an appeal from the All India Tennis Association (AITA) regarding action against Tennis Australias boycott of their Davis Cup tie,the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has ruled that India will host the next tie against Australia, whenever it is played. Previously, the ITF had said the venue would be decided by a draw of lots, but reviewed the ruling on Wednesday after the AITA filed an appeal against the decision last month.
The ITF Board of Directors,at its meeting in Madrid, heard an appeal from India regarding choice of ground for its next Davis Cup tie against Australia. The Board decided that the next tie between India and Australia would be a home tie for India. The Board also reaffirmed its right to review all or any decisions of the Davis Cup committee but chose not to review the financial penalties that the committee levied on Australia previously, said a press release.
