
MUMBAI, February 10: Skipper Mohammed Azharuddin leads a list of four Indian batsmen in the top ten while Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya retained his top spot in the Pepsi World Cricket Ratings for One-day internationals.
Azharuddin (5693 points), who stayed put on the sixth place, leads Saurav Ganguly (11th, 4926), Rahul Dravid (17th, 4111) and Sachin Tendulkar (18th, 4012) in the select category of batsmen meeting the qualifying criteria of 450 runs in One-dayers during the current season.
Despite a long lay-off from international cricket due to injury, Indian spearhead, Javagal Srinath is placed sixth with 8012 points in the bowling chart as South African paceman Allan Donald dislodged Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq from the bowling table. West Indian Stuart Williams (7666) is closely following Sanath Jayasuriya (7718) in second place. Australian opener Ricky Ponting’s (6932) fine form saw him surge to the third place after being absent from the list in December.
Pakistan’s Saeed Anwarretained his fourth place with 6383 points but Sri Lankan skipper Arjuna Ranatunga slumped two spots to finish fifth on 5884 points.
