Katrina Kaif calls her vanity van her “home away from home.” When you step into it, you see all the little routines and quirks that make her mornings tick.
Her vanity van is where her days usually begin, especially when she’s on set. Katrina admitted that she’s someone who thrives without a clock. “When I’m not working, I have so much time—my yoga’s done on time, my meals done on time. And the minute you start putting me on a clock, I’m late for everything.”
But even with the chaos of shooting schedules, Katrina makes time for what she calls her “two breakfasts.” She compares it to a Tolkien moment: “You know like Lord of the Rings—there’s breakfast and then there’s elevenses. So, I’m the same way.”
“The first breakfast is papaya and a fruit which I just got introduced to called, persimmons,” she laughed, trying to pronounce it correctly during the interview. “Looks like a tomato but it’s orange and it’s a fruit.”
Her first breakfast is followed by her time with her glam team, getting ready for the day. “And then I had my elevenses breakfast, which is a very thin slice of toast. Sometimes I wonder, are they competing in the kitchen to see how thin they can cut that slice of toast?”
Her “second breakfast” is her vanity van favourite. She tops the toast with avocado and a sweet sauce: “It’s yum. I love my breakfast.”
The actress’s vanity van isn’t all food and glam, it’s also where her love for chess comes alive. “I have played chess and I play rather well. On two films I played a bit of chess—one was Race with Akshaye Khanna, which is where I got started. And the second film was Dhoom 3 with Aamir,” she admitted with a smile.
Playful, cozy, and filled with little rituals, Katrina Kaif’s vanity van truly is her comfort zone between the chaos of sets.
