Shraddha Kapoor, who likes to lead a simple life, recently admitted to not making New Year resolutions. Instead, she makes resolutions every week. “I feel like I make resolutions every week. I think it has worked for me. I feel like, through the year, I have tried so many different things, new kinds of habits, and seeing which ones are the ones I want to keep …so I don’t believe in a yearly resolution,” said the Stree actor, for whom the “authenticity” of a person is the biggest green flag.
Speaking to Grazia India, she added: “I believe that if you feel like starting something, you can start any time, any day of the week, any month.”
Whatever your resolutions are, make it a habit, said Saurabh Bothra, founder, Habuild and a certified yoga instructor. “And once you’ve begun this healthy practice, what better way to improve your life than linking it to even better choices? Use small choices to create a ripple effect that can aid your progress,” suggested Bothra.
As soon as you build a habit, you create a routine. “Once this routine starts working for you, everything else will fall into place,” said Bothra.
But how does this work? Whether it is exercise, diet, or sleep, you’ll start seeing changes in yourself when you build a routine.
“When you start exercising daily, you’ll start eating healthier. When you eat healthy, you’ll look physically fit. The stability of a routine will give you mental clarity, too. Additionally, small wins will keep you on track and help you build a healthier life,” said Bothra.
Individual habits evolve with time, so breaking down goals does help. Experts urge one to reflect on what is working well and what may need adjustment. Be open to adapting your approach according to the results you desire.
