As a Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra, Naveen Jindal needed a residence that could serve as both a private retreat and a space for hosting official engagements. To bring this vision to life, interior designer Amina Bhatia was tasked with transforming a 4,000-square-foot space into a home that would reflect the Jindals’ multifaceted lives.

The project came with a unique challenge—a tight 30-day deadline. The Jindals envisioned a residence that captured their shared passions and individual pursuits. “Our goal was to create a home that truly reflects our journey as a couple while being warm, vibrant, and inviting,” Shallu Jindal, a renowned Kuchipudi dancer, art enthusiast, and Naveen’s wife, told Architectural Digest.

For Naveen Jindal, the design needed to highlight his multifaceted identity as a politician, philanthropist, family man, and polo player. Meanwhile, Shallu wanted the space to celebrate Indian culture, traditional craftsmanship, and vibrant artistry.

As one of the home’s most public-facing areas, the entrance lounge at the Jindal home is designed for hosting dignitaries and meetings. Personal touches include family photographs and artefacts that narrate milestone moments in the Jindals’ life.

A family retreat, the skylight area features a large indigo artwork by Kaimurai, a collage of black-and-white photographs, and a map of India bursting with colour.

A celebration of art and textiles

The home reflects the Jindals’ deep appreciation for Indian artistry and craftsmanship:

Despite its elegance, the home is practical and comfortable. “This is a home away from home, warm and inviting every time we visit,” Shallu told AD. The subdued colour palette acts as a backdrop for vibrant textiles and artwork, making the residence a harmonious blend of heritage and contemporary design.
