Happy Dhanteras 2023 Wishes: Dhanteras, the first day of the Diwali festival, is a time of prosperity and blessings. On this day, as per tradition, people invest and buy gold and silver, in the form of jewellery and utensils. While ‘Dhan’ means wealth, ‘teras’ means the thirteenth day of the moon cycle.

On this day, devotees pray to Lord Kuber and Goddess Lakshmi — the god and goddess of wealth. According to a mythological tale, Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Kuber came out of an ocean made from milk with a pot of gold while the ocean was churning itself.
