Holidaying often brings joy and relaxation, but it can also lead to weight gain for several reasons. Indulging in delicious local cuisines, letting go of a regular routine, and being less active can contribute to extra pounds. As such, many people end up gloomy after their vacations as they suddenly feel burdened with the task of losing these kilos.

But, what if we tell you that you can keep your weight in check without compromising on your travel experience with just a simple hack? Sonnalli Seygall, who frequently shares effective fitness and health tips with her followers, recently revealed what she does to not put on weight while on a holiday.

The actor shared that she drinks warm/hot water to ensure weight management while travelling. “I anyway never drink cold water. It’s room temperature or warm/hot water for me,” she wrote on Instagram.

Sonnalli said that according to Ayurveda, cold water douses your digestive fire. “So especially on a holiday, when I end up eating a lot, I make it a point to increase my hot water intake so my food gets properly digested and flushes out all the toxins,” she added.

Sonnalli concluded by saying that even though she may be eating a lot and putting on some weight, it’s never as bad and her ability to fight the weight becomes better with this hack. “Try it next time,” she said.

Take a look at her post here:

Dr Debojyoti Dhar, Co-founder and Director, Leucine Rich Bio said that drinking warm water has been associated with improved circulation and intestinal movement. “It has also been observed that warm water increased certain microbes such as Coprococcus spp in lab animals. Coprococcus spp is linked to lower inflammation and also has been found to be higher in people with higher insulin sensitivity,” Dr Dhar shared.

However, Nupuur Patil, a nutritionist, noted that the idea that cold water significantly affects digestion and weight management is not supported by modern scientific research. “While there are cultural and traditional beliefs about the effects of water temperature on digestion, the impact is generally minimal for most people,” she said.

She explained that digestion primarily depends on the body’s internal processes, such as the secretion of digestive enzymes and the movement of food through the digestive tract. “The temperature of the water you drink is unlikely to have a substantial impact on these processes. Instead, the focus should be on maintaining a balanced diet, portion control, and engaging in regular physical activity for healthy digestion and weight management,” Patil said.
