The one detox drink that has become a favourite with many for its nourishing properties is the ABC juice, an ackronym for Apple, Beetroot, and Carrot. Many also use amla too in place of the apple. We recently came across a glimpse of ABC juice enjoyed by actor Malaika Arora with a dash of ginger.
Take a look.
“ABC juice with ginger,” she wrote.
All you need to know about ABC juice and how adding ginger to it helps.
ABCG juice or apple, beetroot, carrot, and ginger juice is a popular detoxification drink that has become the favourite of many fitness enthusiasts in recent times, said Dr Santosh Pandey, acupuncturist and naturopath, Rejua Energy Center. “The ABCG juice is packed with essential nutrients like zinc, potassium, manganese, and many vitamins like vitamin A, B6, C, and more,” Dr Pandey said as he listed the benefits of each ingredient.
Apple: Apples are considered nutrient-dense fruits, which means they provide a lot of nutrients. Apples are particularly filling due to their high fibre and water content, their polyphenols help anti-obesity effects, and lowers cholesterol.
Beetroot: Betalanis is a powerful antioxidant that reduces inflammation and helps to protect against cancer and other diseases. It increases stamina and helps your heart and lungs work better during exercise. “Nitric oxide from beet increases blood flow to muscles. So drinking beetroot juice can add to your exercise performance,” said Dr Pandey.
Carrot: Carrots are rich in compounds called carotenoids. A diet rich in carotenoids protects skin against UV damage and sunlight. Vitamin A improves skin and eye health.
Ginger: Gingerol, a natural component of ginger is helpful for gastrointestinal motility, the rate at which food exits the stomach and continues digestion. Adding ginger to food encourages efficient digestion so food doesn’t linger as long in the gut, mentioned Dr Pandey.
Additionally, calling it a potent antioxidant drink, registered dietitian Garima Goyal said that it helps to scavenge the free radicals generated by the oxidation of the body cells. “ABCG juice is a great drink for body rejuvenation,” said Goyal.
“Each component adds to the nutritional value of the drink on its own, but a combination makes it a powerful and stronger concoction,” mentioned Goyal.
How much to have?
Experts urge that it is good to stick to one glass as too much fibre can also cause digestive issues.
