Nature has bestowed us with an array of herbs and spices that not only tantalise our taste buds but also offer a wealth of health benefits. Among these, cinnamon, ginger, and clove stand out as a potent trio, capable of enhancing our well-being when brewed together as a rejuvenating tea.

Actor and TV host Mini Mathur was also seen enjoying the brew at a wellness resort as part of her 10-day rejuvenating break. “Taking a break with cinnamon, ginger, and clove tea,” wrote Mini on her Instagram Stories.

Drawing from her experience, we reached out to an expert to understand whether the combination truly works. Dt. Vidhi Chawla, founder, Fisico Diet and Aesthetic Clinic, said that the delightful concoction isn’t just a flavourful beverage, it’s also a source of numerous health advantages.

The power of cinnamon, ginger, and clove

Cinnamon contains cinnamaldehyde, an active compound that showcases antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, said Chawla, adding that ginger, known for its distinct spicy flavour, is rich in gingerol, a bioactive substance with anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory, and digestive benefits. “Cloves, the dried flower buds of the Syzygium aromaticum tree, contain eugenol, which possesses analgesic and antimicrobial properties,” she said.

Benefits

According to Chawla, here are the benefits of the herbal concoction:

*Digestive health: Cinnamon, ginger, and clove tea can aid digestion by reducing bloating, gas, and indigestion. Ginger’s ability to stimulate saliva and digestive enzymes, combined with the anti-inflammatory properties of cinnamon and cloves, can soothe the gastrointestinal tract.

*Immune system support: The trio boasts antimicrobial properties that can help fend off infections. Additionally, their antioxidants strengthen the immune system, helping the body combat oxidative stress and external threats.

*Blood circulation: Cinnamon’s warming effect, coupled with ginger’s ability to improve blood circulation, can promote cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of heart-related issues.

*Anti-inflammatory effects: The active compounds in these spices have anti-inflammatory properties, which can benefit individuals dealing with inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

*Weight management: Cinnamon, ginger, and clove tea can potentially aid weight loss efforts by boosting metabolism and curbing unhealthy cravings.
