Bengal SIR news: What is the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral roll?

The Election Commission of India (ECI), through the West Bengal CEO, has launched the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 to ensure every eligible citizen’s details are correct before the state goes to polls next year.

During this process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit homes across the state to distribute and collect voter enumeration forms, verify addresses, and guide citizens through the registration process.

West Bengal SIR form: What will the BLO do?

The Booth Level Officer (BLO) will update your voter information. Here’s what to expect:

* The officer will visit your house between 4 November and 4 December 2025.
* They will provide you with prefilled voter enumeration forms in two copies.
* They will also guide you through the form-filling process.
* And, they will then collect the completed forms and hand you an acknowledgement receipt.

• Fill both copies of the enumeration form.
• Paste your latest passport-size photograph.
• Contact your BLO for any help with the form or online upload.
• Return the filled form to the BLO and collect the receipt.

You can complete the process digitally:

• Or use the ECI’s official mobile app – ECINET App
• Select West Bengal as your state and follow on-screen instructions to:
• Check if your name is in the voter list.
• Submit corrections or new applications online.

Eligibility criteria

• Must be a citizen of India.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be an ordinary resident of the area.
• Must not be disqualified under any law.
