The third meeting of the Opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) front will be held in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1. It was announced after a meeting of the three-party Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Saturday morning.
“The third meeting of the Opposition front will be held in Mumbai. This is a significant meeting especially after Supreme Court stayed the conviction of our leader Rahul Gandhi. All of us met today to ensure smooth organisation of the meeting. We will ensure that the meeting will be a success,” said Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole.
Patole said that MVA will together host the meeting.
Leaders of Shiv Sena (UBT) along with its chief Uddhav Thackeray, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar and senior leaders of the state Congress held a meeting at Nehru Centre to finalise the details of the meeting which will be attended by the chief ministers as well as leaders of all Opposition parties in the country. This will be the third meeting of the Opposition alliance, with first two being held in Patna and Bengaluru.
Patole said that a group of five leaders from each party will be formed to coordinate the organisation of the meeting. From Congress, Ashok Chavan, Naseem Khan, Varsha Gaikwad, Satej Patil and Sanjay Nirupam will be the members of the committee.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said that Uddhav Thackeray will be hosting the Opposition leaders in the country for dinner on August 31. “The meeting of the leaders will be held on September 1. Various issues of national importance and pushing forward the agenda of the Opposition ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections will also be discussed in the meeting,” said Raut, adding that the Sena will play host of the meeting.
