The Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP’s) three-day annual conclave, ‘Mahanadu’, began in the YSRCP stronghold of Kadapa on Tuesday. This is the first time that the party is holding its conclave in the city in the Rayalaseema region, considered a bastion of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s rival Jagan Mohan Reddy.

With the event expected to draw over five lakh people over three days, thousands of party workers poured into Kadapa from across the state as the city turned into a sea of yellow with TDP flags, banners, and hoardings adorning streets, buildings, and junctions.

The ‘Mahanadu’ will kick off with the inauguration of a photo exhibition, blood donation camps, party flag hoisting, and tributes to party founder N T Rama Rao, followed by an inaugural address by CM Naidu. He will also set the tone for three days of introspection, celebration, and strategic direction.

The party will release six resolutions, designed to set the party’s ideological and administrative vision for the future.

The conclave will also see the formal launch of the ‘My TDP App’, which will provide a digital platform to connect the party’s top leadership with its grassroots workers. The app will help track performance, share updates, and reward active participation, making it a central tool for internal coordination and public outreach.

On May 28, the conclave will see in-depth discussions on 14 key draft resolutions, ahead of the NDA alliance government in the state completing its first year in power. The resolutions cover governance achievements and vision-based initiatives, including the government’s accomplishments in the last year, work done on accelerated irrigation projects, including river interlinking and Godavari water to Banakacharla, the development of the capital city, Amaravati, etc.

It will also include discussions on education reforms, women and youth empowerment, power sector reforms, turning agriculture profitable using technology, and strengthening law and order by cracking down on the mafia.

Naidu’s vision of a welfare state through inclusive governance by uplifting the backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and minorities, and Reddy’s alleged “failure as Opposition leader” will also be debated.

Deliberations will also be held on infrastructure growth, a P4 model programme to build a poverty-free society, and the Swarnandhra Vision@2047.

Earlier, Union minister and Srikakulam MP Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu had described Mahanadu as a “major festival that unites the Telugu Desam Party family” and urged all ‘Pasupu Sainyam (TDP cadre)’ to participate in large numbers and celebrate the 2024 victory that has redefined political equations in the state.
