Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually launched several developmental projects in Tripura worth Rs 8,534.02 crore, including the inauguration of the state’s second integrated check post (ICP) in Sabroom, which is Tripura’s southernmost tip bordering Bangladesh.
PM Modi also launched projects, including tap connections for 1.46 lakh rural households and Rs 230 crore worth Land Port at Sabroom in South Tripura district to facilitate trade with south-east Asian countries. He laid stone for the Agartala Western Bypass and multiple road projects, new depot of Indian Oil Corporation at Sekerkote and integrated rehabilitation centre for drug addicts.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha took part in the virtual inauguration and stone laying programme at Sabroom’s Integrated Check Post.

The event included opening of Sabroom Land Port in South Tripura, which will facilitate movement of people and enhance the connectivity, trade & tourism between NE Region & Bangladesh. Under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble PM, these projects will script a new chapter of development towards the goal of #ViksitBharatViksitTripura”,Saha wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The foundation stone of Sabroom Land Port was laid in 2021. The Land Port was located on the Indo-Bangla international border and will have facilities, including cargo administrative building, fire station building, passenger terminal building, warehouse, pump house, electrical substation, etc.
