Celebrating his 75th birthday in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Wednesday that Indian soldiers brought Pakistan to its knees in the blink of an eye as India is not scared of anyone’s nuclear threats and instead “enters the enemy’s home and strikes”.

While laying the foundation stone of the country’s first Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park at Dhar’s Bhaisola village, Modi said there was a time when “terrorists from Pakistan tried to destroy the dignity of our mothers and sisters”.

“In response, through Operation Sindoor, we destroyed their terror bases. Our brave soldiers brought Pakistan to its knees in the blink of an eye,” he said.

After his flight landed at 10:55 am in Indore, Modi, who was received at the airport by Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal, left for Bhaisola in a helicopter.

He also launched the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar and the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah campaigns.

“Just yesterday (Tuesday), the entire nation and the world witnessed a Pakistani terrorist break down in tears, admitting his condition. This is the new India. This is an India that does not fear anyone’s nuclear threats. This is an India that enters the enemy’s home and strikes,” Modi said, ostensibly referring to a senior Jaish-e-Mohammad commander conceding that Indian forces had devastated the family of terror mastermind Masood Azhar.

The prime minister also gave out the ten millionth sickle cell screening and counselling card to a tribal woman, Aradhana Kalmi, and launched the Aadi Seva Parv – a campaign to directly connect tribal communities with government schemes.

During his speech, Modi invoked another historic occasion on this day – the Hyderabad Liberation Day.

“On this very day, the nation witnessed the steel-like willpower of Sardar Patel. It was the day when the Indian Army freed Hyderabad from countless atrocities, protected the rights of its people, and restored the pride of India,” he said.

“For decades, such a great achievement and the extraordinary courage of our soldiers went largely unremembered. But you have given me the opportunity to honour it. Our government has made sure that the events of September 17, tied to Sardar Patel and Hyderabad, are immortalised.”

The Hyderabad Liberation Day “inspires us with the reminder that nothing is greater than the honour and glory of Mother India”, Modi said. “If we live, we must live for the nation, and every moment of our lives must be dedicated to the service of our country.”

He once again made a pitch for using India-made products. “Whatever you buy should carry the sweat and hard work of an Indian. Whatever you bring home should carry the fragrance of the soil of our motherland… Stand with me, because I am determined to see India become a developed country by 2047. The path to that goal lies through Atmanirbhar Bharat — a self-reliant India,” Modi said.

The speech also focused on women, the poor, tribals and the Vishwakarma community, saying that he “personally lived through these emotions and feelings of the poor”.

“We believe the country will progress only when the poor are able to rise out of poverty and move forward with speed. And we have seen that service to the poor never goes in vain. If the poor receive just a little support, a little help, then with their hard work, they even have the courage to cross the ocean… that is why their pain is my own pain,” he said.

Addressing the Vishwakarma community – carpenters, blacksmiths, bronze smiths, goldsmiths and stonemasons — he said they were the “great strength of Make in India”.

“The biggest benefit of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana has gone to those sections of society who were neglected for decades. Our poor Vishwakarma brothers and sisters had skills, but previous governments had no plan to advance those skills or improve their lives. We opened the path to turn their talent into a medium for their progress. That is why I always say — the backward are our priority,” Modi said.

Speaking about the maternal health schemes he launched, Modi said that when a mother is healthy, “the entire household functions well, but if she falls ill, the entire family system is disrupted”, he said.

The prime minister affirmed that the health of mothers, sisters, and daughters is a national priority. He stated that the government is working in mission mode to ensure proper nutrition for pregnant women and girls.
