NPP Tadubi MLA N Kayisii dies, Manipur and Meghalaya CMs express condolence

Tadubi MLA N Kayisii, 58, passed away at his official residence in Imphal on Saturday afternoon after battling a prolonged illness. He was also the president of the Manipur unit of the National People’s Party (NPP).

After receiving the news of his death, well-wishers, party members, and fellow politicians gathered at the late MLA’s residence in Imphal’s Lamphel. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with his cabinet ministers were among those who visited the late MLA’s residence and paid their respects.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Shri N. Kayisii, the respected MLA of Tadubi AC. His service to the people of Manipur and his commitment to the well-being of our state will always be remembered.

“At this moment of grief, my heartfelt condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and all who held him in high regard. May his soul rest in peace, and may we honour his memory by continuing the work he was so passionate about,” wrote Biren Singh on his Facebook page.

Expressing his grief over Kayisii’s untimely death, NPP president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Konrad K Sangma said, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Shri N. Kayisii, President of the NPP Manipur State Unit and MLA of Makhan Khuman Tadubi Constituency. He had also served as a Minister in the Manipur Government from 2017 to 2020. A humble servant of the people, Shri Kayisii’s demise is a tremendous loss to the people of Manipur, particularly Makhan Khuman Tadubi Constituency, and to the entire NPP family. We have lost an able leader who was truly a man of the masses…”

Kayisii was first elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Tadubi in 2017 and then re-elected in 2022. He has been the Manipur state unit president of the NPP since March 2021. He is survived by his wife and eight children.
