Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail: Surat bullet train station to serve as multi-modal transport hub

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train: The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is working in full swing on India’s first bullet train corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The 508-km-long Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor will feature 12 stations along its route. At present, NHSRCL is actively focused on the construction of bullet train stations across Gujarat.

The country’s first bullet train will pass though – Gujarat, Maharashtra and the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will have 12 stations namely – Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Billimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati.

The NHSRCL is developing Surat bullet train station as a world-class multi-modal transport hub. On Saturday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected and reviewed the progress of the Surat bullet train station construction.

The Surat bullet train station has been thoughtfully designed with a strong focus on passenger comfort and convenience. Soothing interiors, natural lighting through skylights, and well-ventilated platforms will ensure a calm and pleasant travel experience.

The Surat bullet train station will be equipped with modern passenger amenities like waiting lounge, nursery, restrooms, retail outlets etc. To make the movement across different levels, smooth and accessible for everyone, multiple lifts and escalators are being installed.

Special attention has been given to the needs of elderly, differently abled and families with children. Passenger-friendly facilities like clear signages to guide passengers easily across concourse, platform and exit areas including information kiosks and public announcement systems are being installed.

Surat Bullet train station to offer seamless multi-modal connectivity

In addition to the passenger centric features, the Surat bullet train station will also provide seamless integration with other modes of transport. A Multi-Modal Integration plan has been prepared in collaboration with Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) under project for Station Area Development along Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project (SMART). This will allow passengers to easily switch between metro trains, buses, taxis, autos, and other local transport, ensuring smooth traffic flow around the station. Such connectivity will significantly reduce transition time, making travel faster, safer, and more convenient for everyone.
