JD(U) to organise events in other states for caste census demand: Kushwaha

Kushwaha told The Indian Express, “What we have to say on our leader Nitish Kumar’s potential, we have said through a formal resolution at the party’s national council. We said it as a matter of self-pride and assertion and not to tease ally BJP.” 

The JD(U), which recently sought a probe into the Pegasus spyware controversy, has demanded setting up of an NDA coordinating committee to sort out contentious issues between NDA alliance partners.

The JD(U) parliamentary board chairman said that besides the caste census, the party would also talk about the “Bihar model” of population control.

“It is likely that we would start going to Uttar Pradesh from October…though the party has not formalised its schedule, we would be travelling to other states soon to build momentum on caste census demand,” he told The Indian Express.

“Nitish Kumar government has proved that through awareness and education, fertility rate among women can be brought down,” he said, without commenting on a few BJP-ruled states considering legislation on two-child norms.
