UP cop Amitabh Thakur seeks CBI probe into rape charges against him

The rape case was slapped on Thakur after he filed a complaint against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him.

A day after he was booked for a rape case, UP IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Monday met MHA official and sought CBI probe into the charges against him.

The rape case was slapped on Thakur after he filed a complaint against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him.

Thakur has claimed that the rape charge was a “return gift” from Yadav for making public an audio recording of the SP supremo allegedly threatening him over the phone.

“My only fault was that I made public the audio recording of the threat I had received from Mulayam, and also ‘dared’ to submit a complaint in this regard at a police station,” Amitabh Thakur said at a press conference which he addressed along with his wife Nutan.

On Saturday, Amitabh had submitted a complaint at Hazratganj police station against Mulayam for allegedly threatening him.
