Two farmers die of shock following crop damage in Meerut

Two farmers died of shock on Friday evening after their crops were ruined due to unseasonal rain and hailstorm. Both were heavily indebted. Hem Singh, 56, of Kudi village in Kharkhauda block died due to heart attack. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Another farmer who died under similar circumstances was Khacheru, a resident of Silaur Dhola village under Kithore police station. “We have ordered an investigation into both deaths and will settle claims for compensation once reports are in. Meerut has been declared calamity-hit district,” Arvind Kumar Singh, the SDM, said.
