A special CBI court on Thursday issued non-bailable warrants against Panipat (rural) MLA Om Prakash Jain,Assandh MLA Zile Ram Sharma and Jain’s PA,Rajendar Sharma,in the abetment to suicide case involving a sarpanch.

Special CBI Judge Atul Marya issued the warrants after none of the accused appeared before the court on Thursday nor did they submit reasons for their absence.

The MLAs and PA have been charged for allegedly causing the death of the sarpanch of Kambopura village in Karnal,Karam Singh, who allegedly committed suicide as the MLAs failed to return money they had taken from him on the promise of providing jobs to his kith and kin.

While the CBI has filed a charge-sheet against the three accused,Jain’s anticipatory bail plea had been rejected. The court did not find merit in the former minister’s arguments that his custodial interrogation was not required as he had been co-operating with the CBI in the case. The CBI court on Thursday directed that the accused should be produced before the next date of hearing on October 3. Counsel for O P Jain,Vishal Garg Narvana, said that the court issued the arrest warrants in the case on Thursday.

The CBI in its charge-sheet has disclosed that Jain had allegedly accepted Rs 4.5 lakh from the sarpanch while Sharma took Rs 7.5 lakh from Karam Singh, who had died under mysterious circumstances on June 7,2011.
