The Fatehgarh Sahib police Sunday recovered 10 kg of drug ice (methamphetamine) and 230 kg of pseudophedrine that is used as a raw material in its production during three separate raids in Punjab and Haryana.
Kahlon and Kulwant have reportedly told the police that the international retail price of ice is about Rs 5 crore per kg and while the raw material goes for Rs 1 crore per kg. The total retail price of the seizures made in the case till now in the international market is estimated to be Rs 484 crore.
The modus operandi,as per the police:
n Pseudophedrine was sourced from a pharmaceutical factory in Meerut,being run by a retired DSP of Uttar Pradesh Police,Kirpal Singh (also under arrest),and his son Anuj (who is absconding).
Heroin was brought in from Afghanistan and Pakistan,allegedly by Jagdish Bhola (absconding),and then smuggled abroad along with ice and pseudophedrine. Consignments were sent both via air cargo from Delhi and by ship from Mumbai,which was allegedly organised by Kulwant Singh and Paramjit Singh (both arrested).
In the UK,consignments were received by Latif,a man of Pakistani origin settled in the UK,who is allegedly an associate of Kulwant. In Canada,Kulwants alleged accomplice was his father-in-law,Nirankar Singh Dhillon,while in Holland,two Punjab-origin men Sam and Garry received the drugs. The latter are reportedly associates of Manpreet,a Canadian national who was arrested earlier.
Fifteen persons including two Canadians and one UK citizen have been arrested so far in this case,whereas more than 25 persons are absconding.
For the good work done in this case,six constables were Sunday given the rank of head constable,eight head constables were made assistant sub-inspectors,three ASIs were promoted to sub-inspectors,while two SIs are now inspectors.
Sundays seizures were made from Satinder Singh,a resident of Panchkula,with 3 kg Ice and 75 kg of pseudophedrine being recovered from an Innova vehicle belonging to Bhola; from the premises of Avtar Singh in Patiala (2 kg ice and 65 kg pseudophedrine hidden in a Scorpio belonging to his brother); and from Ravicharn Singh of Sangrur (5 kg ice and 90 kg pseudophedrine). All three are absconding.
Before this,28.5 kg of heroin,61 kg of pseudophedrine,drug money amounting to Rs 1.15 crore and $9,000 had been recovered in this case. Around 50 kg of ice was allegedly flushed down the drain by the father and brother-in-law of Kahlons associate Jaswinder Singh Rocky when he was arrested.
